Gorontalo, located in the deep Tomini Gulf with waters over 4,000 meters deep, attracts large ocean creatures like whales, sharks, and dolphins, along with transparent sea life. It features unique cliffs, caves, crevices, pinnacles, and underwater sand dunes.

BOLSEL

Diving in Bolsel is an incredible underwater experience with clear waters teeming with marine life, including schools of Barracudas, Jackfish, and Black/White tip sharks, creating a diver's paradise.

🦈 It’s Shark Awareness Day! 🐋✨

Today’s a reminder that sharks, yes, even the biggest ones aren’t monsters. They’re guardians of our ocean.

Meet Sherly, one of Gorontalo’s gentle giants.
Whale sharks are the biggest fish on Earth, but they’re harmless filter feeders, no teeth to fear, only wide mouths that gulp down plankton and tiny fish near our bagans.

They’re a sign of a healthy ocean, but they’re also vulnerable, boat strikes, pollution, and careless tourism can put them at risk. That’s why how we dive with them matters.

Keep your distance. Stay calm. Never touch.
Every respectful encounter means they keep coming back to Gorontalo’s warm waters, year after year.

This Shark Awareness Day, let’s celebrate these peaceful sharks by protecting them, not just today, but every day we jump in. 🫧

Una Una gave us memories that feel bigger than the sponges, and trust us, they’re huge. 🤯

Out there it feels like diving in a living museum, huge sponges bigger than us, reef structures that look like they’ve been here forever, and schools of fish that don’t even flinch when you pass by.

But what makes it stick isn’t just the underwater part, it’s the people you share it with. Long boat rides, post-dive snacks, laughs that turn strangers into dive buddies, and dive buddies into real friends.

Before the dive comes the ritual: Mask fog check, final sips of water, reg test, buddy fist bump.

Then you roll back, look up, and it’s just blue all around.

Some dives get your heart racing. Some are slow and still. But the best ones? They’re the ones where everything just clicks, your breath, your gear, your buddy, the sea.

It’s not just about what you see underwater. It’s the whole vibe: The laughs on the boat. The way your fins hit the deck. That calm right before you drop in.

A school of barracuda might look calm, but they're constantly aware of their surroundings, including us.

If you're lucky enough to dive near them, here’s how to keep the moment safe and respectful, for you and them:

1. Approach slowly
Let them see you. Quick movements = potential threat.

2. Keep your distance
Stay at least 3–4 meters away. Getting too close can break their formation or stress the group.

3. Stay horizontal
Barracuda often interpret vertical movement (especially above them) as a sign of aggression or dominance.

4. Avoid loud sounds
No banging on tanks, aggressive finning, or excessive noise. They’ll vanish in seconds.

The goal isn’t to get in the school, it’s to blend in with the environment and observe without interfering.
Moments like this are earned through patience, awareness, and respect. 🤍
